Van den Bosch will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary in October 2024. The company was founded in 1964 by Ad van den Bosch. Starting off with just a single truck, he laid the foundations for today's organisation. Van den Bosch has successfully converted a number of flows to and from Serbia from road to intermodal bulk transport. Through intensive collaboration with two local parties and the use of silo containers, the logistics service-provider has not only increased efficiency for its customers but also reduced CO2 emissions.

UNICEF has made great progress with the Recycling Plastic, Creating Schools programme in Ivory Coast. Thanks in part to Van den Bosch's support, 359 classrooms have now been built. As a result, 17,950 children have been provided with access to education.

The vegetable oil industry in Kenya and elsewhere is growing incredibly fast. But despite increasing global demand for vegetable oils, their supply chain is barely growing with it. Tens of millions of litres are still being exported annually to Europe in flexitanks. Van den Bosch is now taking the first steps towards transferring this volume to sustainable ISO tank transport in order to optimise the supply chain.

Van den Bosch is the first carrier worldwide to be independently verified for CO2 emission calculations and reporting that meet the applicable requirements from ISO 14083:2023. This confirms that CO2 emissions are calculated and reported in a demonstrably reliable manner, fully in line with European legislation and environmental requirements.

And in a district in the Central African Republic (CAR), the approach to tackling malnutrition was taken further with better screening and education. Both UNICEF projects have been supported by Van den Bosch since 2019 and 2022, respectively.

This independent quality label is awarded annually by research bureau Effectory for good employership. At the beginning of this year, Effectory conducted a survey among the employees of all the Van den Bosch branches. The logistics service provider scores above average compared with other internationally active organisations surveyed.

In the Central African Republic, 214,000 children under the age of 5 are at risk of acute malnutrition. UNICEF is focusing on the treatment of these malnourished children through the nutrition programme ‘A forgotten crisis’. In 2022, Van den Bosch committed itself for two years to this initiative. Partly thanks to this support, various results have already been achieved by mid-2022.

As of January 2022 Van den Bosch has been working with Amaris Terminals Ltd. for its new cleaning station in Ghana. Due to the growing demand and increasing number of customers from West Africa, the logistics service provider is expanding through means of investments in both new ISO tank equipment and a new state-of-the-art cleaning station. This modern tank cleaning is now fully operational and running at full capacity in cooperation with its new partner.

Van den Bosch has acquired transport company TCS Trans in Barcelona as of 4 October 2021. TCS Trans is a pioneer in intermodal transport in Spain, with a focus on dry bulk for the petrochemical industry. "Spain is a growth market with a lot of potential. With this acquisition, we are taking the next step in developing our intermodal network in southern Europe," says Rico Daandels, CEO of Van den Bosch.

Van den Bosch has signed an agreement with Etec for the development and supply of ground-level controlled manhole covers. Calls for sustainability in logistics are getting louder. Research, however, shows that 43% of carriers are unable to calculate their own CO2 emissions.
