Van den Bosch optimises and expands its fleet

Van den Bosch continues to invest in a future-proof fleet. Over the coming months, the logistics service provider will be taking delivery of over a hundred new trucks in phases. With this investment, Van den Bosch is gradually optimising its current fleet with cleaner, more fuel-efficient trucks that meet new environmental standards and feature technological innovations.

The new trucks will be deployed at a number of Van den Bosch sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Hungary and the United Kingdom. The logistics service provider had previously invested in expanding its container fleet and in new trucks for, among others, its branch in Sweden. With this latest investment, Van den Bosch continues to build a modern and efficient fleet that meets both customer requirements and its own sustainability ambitions.

The investment involves a partnership with various brands. Among other things, new MAN and Renault trucks will be added to the fleet. In addition, the fleet will be expanded with DAF trucks.

New technology

A total of thirty Renault trucks will be added to the fleet, of which around fourteen vehicles are destined for Spain and feature specific modifications such as a retarder for extra braking power in hilly areas. In putting together the new fleet, the focus is firmly on safety, efficiency and sustainability. The DAFs and MANs are equipped with the latest generation of cameras that replace conventional mirror systems. This technology reduces blind spots, provides drivers with a better all-round view of the vehicle and tracks the trailer during bends. In addition, the cameras continuously display the vehicle’s length, making manoeuvring easier. The systems, in combination with the turn-off assist, also contribute to extra safety for other road users such as cyclists and pedestrians. The absence of large wing mirrors also reduces air resistance, resulting in lower fuel consumption.

Sustainability

The new vehicles meet the latest requirements in terms of safety, fuel consumption and emissions. The trucks are fitted with the cleanest diesel engines currently available on the market. MAN’s vehicles also comply with the latest VECTO 3 guidelines, thereby helping to reduce both emissions and operating costs. Safety systems such as LED lighting and corner cameras are integrated as standard.

Future-oriented

In addition, all new trucks are being fitted with a new generation of on-board computers. Van den Bosch has opted for a tablet version that is both flexible and portable. Thanks to the new on-board computer, applications can be easily integrated and communication between driver, customer and supplier is further improved.

Photos, digital freight documents and real-time status updates are shared instantly, making information available more quickly and ensuring processes run more efficiently. With this step, Van den Bosch is further committing to a fully automated flow of information and a sustainable, data-driven future for logistics.
