LNG truck in use

It took a long time, but the first LNG truck in the Van den Bosch organisation is now in use this week.

This truck will be used for our customer SuikerUnie in Dinteloord only and last week the keys were handed to its dedicated driver: Hans Verbeek. Our congratulations to Hans for this unique truck.

Early 2011, the first talks started between SuikerUnie, Volvo Nederland and Van den Bosch on the use of trucks running on alternative fuel. The efforts of various people in our organisation helped us together with the other parties to finally get one of the first originally manufactured LNG trucks in the Netherlands available and operational.

LNG, or Liquefied Natural Gas in full, is natural gas that is cooled under atmospheric pressure to about -160°C so that it becomes liquefied. LNG is not pressurized, is odourless, non-toxic and non-corrosive; it is just cold.
