The healthiest and safest company in the industry
Van den Bosch Transporten is participating in a survey called ‘A Safety Conscious Company’.

Work under safe and healthy conditions, feel good and continue to feel good, also after having retired. Everyone says yes to that, but it does not come easy. An employer has to create the conditions for his employees to be able to work under safe and healthy conditions. The employee himself has to make sure that he does exactly that. It is better for his own health and – where safety is concerned – also for that of his or her colleagues. That’s why Van den Bosch Transporten is participating in a survey called ‘A Safety Conscious Company’. An initiative of Gezond Transport: an organisation for work under safe and healthy conditions of and for the transport and logistics industry.

European Principles
In spite of all precautions, we are still facing 219,000 victims of industrial accidents in the Netherlands resulting in injury or absenteeism. The European Commission attaches great importance to driving back work accidents and set the objective (for entire Europe) of a decrease of 25%. Consequently, work safety is high on the political agenda in the Netherlands as well and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has set up a programme to further work out the objectives at a national level. One of the conclusions from investigations was that there should not be more rules, regulations and sanctions, but that the behaviour of everyone in the industry can be safer. A change in mentality is needed to further improve working conditions and safe work in practice. Via an industry focused project for transport and logistics, Van den Bosch Transporten cooperates in this programme, with the objective to create a sustainable and safe work environment for its employees.

Benchmark
Individual feedback followed immediately after the completion of the digital safety scan by people of Van den Bosch Transporten. Moreover, the managing directors and the management analysed the average business results in a master class with all participating companies present. Experiences were shared, which gave a clear picture of what fellow entrepreneurs are undertaking in this area.

Follow-up Action
Mid November, the business results are discussed in a workshop with a group of participants from the survey. Knowledge will be shared in this workshop and practical handles will be discussed. This is very important because knowing the theory is very different from putting the follow-up actions into practice. Finally, there will be an intervision meeting with all participating companies to review the entire project course. What appeals to Van den Bosch Transporten is that matters are discussed with other companies in the industry that happen in actual practice. By talking about that, Van den Bosch Transporten hopes to be able to make a step forward in the direction of an even safer and healthier company!
