Excellent Dakar for Van den Bosch!
Reaching the tenth position in Le Dakar was just a dream for Peter van den Bosch. Become second on a stage was unthinkable. All the pieces fell together during Dakar 2013. Van den Bosch will go home as a happy man.

Three years ago there was a deal between Peter van den Bosch, Frits van Eerd, Eimbert Timmermans and Erik van Loon to form team XDakar. Three times there was a finish of the trucks and two times the car finished. 'I think it's very good. I didn't expect to reach this in just three years. Also with these results.'

Last year, Van den Bosch had to conquer the dunes as 30th truck. This year, he was driving in the top 15 constantly. That makes Dakar easier. 'I was able to choose a direction over the dunes. When you arrive there in 30th position, you don't have a choise. The dunes is broken and it is really working. It is getting harder and harder. Now I was able to race and compete to the others. That's such a good feeling!'

Everything was good for Van den Bosch this year. He drove with a lot of fun. 'I really enjoyed the rally. When everthing is ok, it is also fun. It motivates and you will try to go a bit faster every day.' It was a huge difference compared to last year. Van den Bosch was struggling in the rally and wasn't having fun. 'The second year for XDakar we had a recoil. We were to enthusiastic while we were trying to improve the trucks, that caused a lot of damage. It is searching for a good balance between speed and reliability. Last year, the balance was wrong. This year, the balance was perfect. Then you will reach success and everybody is having fun. This makes me happy.'

The material didn't fail this rally for Van den Bosch, his co-driver Wouter Rosegaar and engineer Patrick Bouw. 'That was also good for the team of mechanics. Every evening we shut down the energy on 12 o'clock and everyone was inside his tent. That makes a very good atmosphere. It wasn't just a good rally but also a very social one. That is important for us.'

Becoming second on the tenth stage was the trophy. 'That was really special,' said Van den Bosch. 'It was the first time for me to finish that high. But, I hope it won't be the last time. There is a huge advantage for the men in the top ten: you have two minutes to drive without dust. I want it more often.'

With his top ten position overall, it is possible next year. It is sure that Van den Bosch will start next year again. 'XDakar was a three year plan and they are over now. But we will continue. In what form and with who, we are going to discuss that very soon.'
