Sustainable Terberg shuttle SABIC

The first new Terberg shuttle is now in operation at the SABIC site in Bergen op Zoom. Logistics partner Van den Bosch Transporten deploys this ‘green’ shuttle to make the current 24 hour service more sustainable.

The Terberg shuttle was selected because of its sustainability properties. The shuttle has an energy saving Mercedes engine and stage3B emission, which is comparable to Euro5. Because of the energy saving measures, emission and fuel consumption are reduced. These measures include: change ups at lower rpms, change ups subject to load, savings when idling and transmission when the parking brake is used.

Green shuttle
Van den Bosch Transporten and SABIC investigated various types of shuttles for SABIC’s 24 hour service over the past year. An electric shuttle, a CNG shuttle and a diesel shuttle were also considered. The Terberg shuttle came out as the ‘greenest’ and most feasible option. Moreover, the shuttle has been designed according to SABIC’s instructions and safety requirements. The arrival of the Terberg shuttle is the first in a long line of ‘green’ fleet investments.
