New MAN trucks

Van den Bosch Transporten has purchased nine new MAN units for the UK market. The units of the TGS type will come into service from March 2015 onwards and will be used on the Mondelez UK contract.

Recently the contract with Mondelez was oncluded for three years. Both parties see each other as a strategic partner for the future. Next to the optimization of current processes, the focus in the coming period will be mainly on the development of sustainable logistical concepts.

Reliability
The new trucks have been selected due to the low vehicle weight, good fuel efficiency and high level of reliability. The 400bhp trucks are right-hand drives with a lightweight body and are powered by the newly designed and environmentally friendly Euro-6 engine. Furthermore the trucks have a 6x2 configuration with lightweight Alcoa aluminium rims, an automated AC-tronic transmission and Telematics-software (wireless access to vehicle performance).

Rejuvenation of the fleet
The purchase of the new MAN-units is in line with the purchase of sixty new units earlier this year. The sixty units were forty Volvo FM, ten IVECO Stralis AT and ten MAN TGS trucks. It is the aim to rejuvenate the fleet quicker as was previously the case which means we would look to replace the trucks between three and six years of service.
