The African market

According to many experts, the African continent will experience the greatest economic expansion of the 21st century. Through the years Van den Bosch Transporten has developed a network of agents on the African market that helps us develop the market and offers us the opportunity to offer our customers an End-to-End solution for the African market.

Nowadays many economic experts and analysts feel that there is no doubt: with almost 1 Billion inhabitants at this moment, Sub-Saharan Africa will be home to more than a third of the planet’s population by the end of the century and the world will have to take this reality into account.

Added value
Where many Western countries still look at Africa as a continent in need of foreign aid, we feel that we can add value to local companies by improving their supply chain. Besides our commercial interests, we also take our social responsibility and corporate accountability towards society. As an organization we want to act responsibly and pursue concrete goals that are in line with our vision and strategy. That is why Van den Bosch Transporten entered an alliance with UNICEF in 2011.

Growth
Sub-Saharan Africa could see 6% growth in 2014 and the increase in GDP is expected to remain between 5% and 10% over the next few years. In addition, the average per capita income in the region has risen by 30% over the past ten years, as a middle class with a growing demand for consumer goods has emerged.
Besides these developments, Sub-Saharan Africa is rich in Agro-food and is looking for opportunities to export these products to various markets. Cote D’ivoir and Ghana represent over 60% of the world cocoa production. Enormous investments are made in palm plantation for local production of palm oil and Shea-butter demands are rising.

Optimize costs
In order to ship these products from Africa to their demand markets, the current supply chain managers are looking for ways to optimize costs. Products are currently shipped in blocks, IBC’s or flexitanks. But what about using ISO-tanks for such a supply chain?
Think about the fact that the product doesn’t need to be handled manually anymore and heating of the product can be done quite easily. No warehouses are needed to store the product and no single-use packaging is needed. Just use the tank container as an intermediate floating stock and have the product delivered just in time.

End-to-End solutions
We are able to provide our customers End-to-End solutions for the African market. We feel that this is the only way to control a supply chain: by offering our customers the total solution, including house delivery or collection.
