In the European Union a Dairy hygiene directive is in force. The Dairy hygiene directive concerns regulations for a hygienic method of preparation and trading milk and dairy products. On the basis of the directive demands have been made, among other things, of the primary phase (the production and delivery of milk) and of the processing phase (preparation of dairy products).
The directive has been implemented in the Netherlands in the Commodities Act and the Agriculture quality act. Van den Bosch transported is periodically checked by the COKZ (Centraal Orgaan voor Kwaliteitscontole in the Zuivel, Central Organization for Quality Control in the Dairy Sector) for compliance with the regulations.
